Header

For years, Nielsen customers were accustomed to using over a dozen different tools to gather consumer goods data. Designed and built by teams across the globe, they had very little in common. The newly formed core UX team was tasked with building a design system that could be used across all tools, to be rebranded as The Connected System.

Role

Under the supervision of the visual design team individuals across the UX team would contribute to the creation of components. As a Senior Visual Designer on the UI team I contributed to the design of components and also helped with the facilitation of the cross team collaboration. Full system can be viewed here

Research

Treating the design system as a product, we conducted research in creating our Design System site. I worked closely with our UX Researchers to conduct a Tree Test for our sitemap. You can read the details of that study in this PDF.

UI Design

There was an unique opportunity at Nielsen to work with Product Owners and UX Designers across products to enforce Atlas. As part of the approval process all designs had to have the blessing of the Atlas Team. I was also able to rework interaction across The Connect System alongside the POs, making sure there were similar experiences across tools.

Other Design System Work

Nielsen was my first exposure to Design Systems, my work on Atlas allowed me to lead the creation of the EchoAccelerator Design System. Please read more about that experience and process.
